Academic
Sedate-US fosters academic advancement by providing a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum that integrates the latest research and best practices in sedation. Participants gain a deep understanding of the physiological and pharmacological principles underlying safe and effective sedation, enabling them to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care as Sedationists.
Patient Safety
Sedate-US prioritizes patient safety by equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and necessary capabilities to better understand the various levels of sedation, minimize risks, and manage potential complications associated with sedation. Underscoring adherence to established guidelines, the program instills a culture of safety and promotes the delivery of safe and effective sedation practices.
Community of Practice
Sedate-US cultivates a community of practice by connecting Sedationists, healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing the field of sedation. Through shared resources and ongoing professional development, the program fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Our Instructors

Marc E. Koch, MD, MBA, FASA
Dr. Koch is a licensed physician and Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. He has authored numerous articles and chapters on office-based and ambulatory anesthesia and is recognized as an authority in the field. His work has been featured in The New York Times and Money magazine. Dr. Koch trained at Yale, Winthrop University Hospital, and SUNY Stony Brook, and holds an MBA from Fordham. He is a former accreditation surveyor and regularly speaks to medical audiences worldwide.

Solomon (Sol) Aronson, MD, MBA, FASA, FACC, FACCP, FAHA, FASE
Dr. Aronson brings over 30 years of experience in academic medicine, having held leadership roles at Duke and the University of Chicago. He has published more than 300 articles and six textbooks and is a leading expert in echocardiography, perioperative care, and healthcare strategy. Dr. Aronson has advised the FDA, contributed to national medical boards, and holds fellowships and international academic appointments.

Prof. Monty G. Mythen, MBBS, MD, FRCA, FFICM, FCAI (Hon)
Monty is a global expert in anesthesia and perioperative medicine. Formerly Chair of Anesthesia and Critical Care at University College London, he has led major UK health initiatives and held academic posts at Duke University. He is a founder of EBPOM, the Perioperative Quality Initiative, and the Xtreme Everest Research Consortium, and has authored extensive research on surgical recovery and critical care.

Robert C. Goldstein, MD
Dr. Goldstein is a board-certified anesthesiologist with deep clinical and executive experience. He has contributed to national publications and presented internationally on anesthesia operations. Dr. Goldstein earned his medical degree from SUNY Brooklyn, trained at Beth Israel and Yale, and has served as an accreditation inspector for Medicare and the AAAHC, as well as an executive with Somnia Anesthesia.

Kimberly Hudson, RN
Kimberly Hudson is a seasoned healthcare executive with over 20 years in anesthesia and surgical services leadership. She is CEO of Curated Healthcare Solutions and has held roles at St. Jude and East Memphis Anesthesia Services. Kimberly specializes in operational strategy, clinical workflow, and sedation management. She is also a frequent industry speaker and advisory board member.

Desirée Chappell, CRNA
Desirée Chappell is a national leader in perioperative care and Enhanced Recovery Programs. She is Lead Anchor of TopMedTalk, Co-Director of EBPOM-USA, and sits on global recovery boards. Desirée is Co-Director of PoCCo, LLC, teaches at Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia, and speaks internationally on perioperative strategy and acute pain management.

James Milano, MD
Dr. Milano is board-certified in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine with over 30 years of experience. Based in Long Island and affiliated with Saint Francis Hospital, he is known for his compassionate, thorough approach to care. He is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine and has practiced procedural sedation for decades, caring for hundreds of patients across clinical settings.
